July 9-11 Summer Camp

ARTIST FOCUS: Howardena Pindell a New York based painter and mixed media artist, her work explores texture, color, structures, and the process of making art. Her vibrant statement pieces will be the center of our exploration at this week's summer camp. Her spray paintings of the early 1970s, made use of the scrap pieces of paper and holes punches, were dark and smoldering, yet there was also a shimmering light, she was known for sprinkling glitter across the surface of her art.These canvases were rich visual feasts of color and light. CAMP DETAILS July 9-11  TWTh  9am-12pm 

The Playful Space Studio: 2024 20th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301

Small Group: 6-8 campers

This 3 day series is curated for ages 10-15 who want to walk away with a fun, playful art experience, new connections, and art skills.

We will be focusing on the work of Howardena Pindell. We will be creating washi tape landscapes, circular collages with glitter, memory houses and more! Our camps create a safe environment for practicing social emotional intelligence and building confidence to be accessed in all areas of your child's life.

Camp includes all art materials and snack, please bring a water bottle.
