Joy Journal Vol. 1
I am switching things up around here and I hope you love it! I have been brainstorming ways to show up more consistently for you in this space. Once a month I will be sharing what I affectionately call my “Joy Journal”. This is volume one! But, it's not all about me! I want to collect and shareYOUR stories of joy too!
Here's an excerpt from Psychology Today, if you need more reasoning behind my why…
…"researchers have found that individuals who habitually talk to people about the good things that are happening to them feel happier and more satisfied with life.
Sharing our joy increases joy.
Telling people about our happiness has far greater benefits than just remembering it or writing it down for ourselves. Our own well-being influences the well-being of those around us, up to three levels of separation. (I am always shouting from the rooftops about “this ripple effect”! 🌊) We can help support others’ joy by encouraging them to share their most positive experiences, and the things they feel grateful for. Supporting a friend or acquaintance's well-being in turn may impact not only ourselves but the well-being of ALL the people connected to that friend."
Albert Schweitzer, a German physician and Nobel Peace Prize winner, was right when he said:
“Happiness is the only thing that multiplies when you share it.”
So let's get happy! HIT REPLY and tell me one thing that is currently bringing you joy! I will be featuring one MVP story each month (or maybe more!) Remember it's not selfish or showing off…it counteracts all the tough stuff happening in our world…and hey it's just science! We don't have to feel it all the time, but let's get in the habit of sharing more of it.
- My Get Messy Art Journal I have a new favorite journal and it's no surprise it has “messy” in the title. I started this journal at the Camp Nelson retreat and have continued to use it for my summer travels. I love how the colored pencils stand out on the cover! We are continuing our Adventures in Art Journaling series this summer and I can't wait to explore a fold out timeline on 7/25 and a summer watercolor inchie grid on 8/22…wondering what the heck am I talking about? 🤪Come find out why I am obsessed with art journaling!
- 70% Capacity!!! Our community is showing up in a BIG WAY this year at CelebrateYOUpalooza 2024. I am floored that we have already surpassed our July ticket goal and have reached 70% capacity. 🥳 Cassandra and I celebrate ev-e-ry-sing-le ticket that comes through! Happy Dances and text GIF's related to the ticket number and sometimes they are sooooo random, like the elmo on fire #23 pictured above! We are always finding fun ways to laugh together and celebrate the wins. We've come so far on this joy journey.
- In The Deep End My kids are visiting their grandparents this week over in Ventura and taking swim lessons for their 3rd year in a row (they love it) and it eases my mama heart. Yesterday I received a video from my mom that my son swam from the deep end to the shallow steps! 🤯🥰 My babies are growing up so fast. How about those swim caps? Lol. 🤓
