Bakersfield Summer Camp Welcomes Guest Artists!
The Playful Space is thrilled to announce 4 local guest artists for our Summer Art Camp for Tweens in beautiful Bakersfield, CA!
Each of these wildly talented artists will be sharing their unique stories & teaching our campers a few of their techniques! Summer Art Camp will be located at The Playful Space Studio at 2005 Eye Street in the heart of downtown. It is our hope that these kiddos walk away inspired and armed with new creative skill sets!
1. Jennifer Williams-Cordova : @jenwillco
“I love getting to make art, but then getting to make my city [and] my community a more fun and colorful place is just a huge bonus.” -Jen
Jennifer Williams-Cordova is a multidisciplinary artist, specializing in murals, graphic design, photography and illustration. Her vibrant murals can be seen all over town! Jen will be popping into our paint camp on Thursday, June 22nd. Our campers will have so much fun creating and learning from Jen! Get to know Jen at @jenwillco on Instagram!
Paint Camp is June 20-22 from 9am-12pm.
2. Valerie Garewal : @vintageartlady
“Let your soul shine. Try something different and see what arises.” -Valerie
Valerie Garewal is a mixed media artist and owner of Vintage Art Lady…an absolute hidden gem in Downtown Bakersfield! She believes in “artful accidents” and has a wide range of artistic skills from collage, furniture restoration, and painting. Valerie will be popping into our collage camp on Thursday, June 29th. Her shop is so much fun to explore and I can't wait for our campers to learn about her playful meanderings as an artist. Learn more about Valerie at @vintageartlady on Instagram!

3. Laura Lee Best : @lauraleeartstudio
“Come find yourself and lose yourself in art!” -Laura
Laura Best received her B.A. in Music Education from CSU Bakersfield and has been teaching privately since 2005. Laura is a strong advocate for education in the Arts and believes that a foundation in music and art is crucial to the development and growth of all ages. Laura will be joining our watercolor camp on Thursday, August 3rd. In the meantime, go say hello to Laura at Best Music and Arts on Oak Street where she teaches art, piano, violin, and guitar, as well as paint parties! 4. Cassandra Gear : @bythatonegirl
“When life gets you down, just add glitter and confetti” -Cassandra
Cassandra Gear is an artist and dreamer of bright, sparkly things! She is owner of By That One Girl specializing in impromptu celebrations, custom trophies, and emergency confetti!
